Job Description

Beacon Hill Financial is collaborating with a non-profit organization in Silver Spring, MD to bring an experienced non-profit Accounts Receivable Specialist to their team. The Accounts Receivable Specialist will be responsible for managing incoming payments, properly recording revenue, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role ensures timely collection of receivables, donor contributions, grants, and program-related revenue, in compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and experienced in non-profit financial systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process daily receipts and record incoming payments (checks, ACH, online donations, grants, etc.) in the accounting system.

  • Prepare and send invoices for program services, grants, and other receivables.

  • Monitor accounts for delayed payments, follow up with donors, grantors, and clients as needed.

  • Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable transactions and reconcile discrepancies.

  • Work closely with Development and Program teams to reconcile donation records and ensure proper coding and donor acknowledgments.

  • Support monthly close processes by preparing AR reports, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

  • Assist with annual audits by preparing AR documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal accounting procedures.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
