Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Location: Arlington, VA 22201

Contract Type: Contract to Perm (6 Months)

Compensation: $85-90K

About the Role

Our large construction client is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to oversee commercial construction projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, building codes, and industry standards. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to drive project success.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of commercial construction projects to verify compliance with project specifications, building codes, and industry standards.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to approved plans.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and quality control procedures, documenting discrepancies and non-compliance issues.
• Verify that all materials and equipment meet required specifications and standards in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Track project progress and report delays or concerns to the project management team, providing recommendations for corrective actions when needed.
• Ensure construction site safety by identifying and addressing potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve issues and maintain efficient project execution.
• Conduct final inspections and manage punch list items to confirm all work meets required standards before project closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction inspection .
• Certifications such as ICC Commercial Building Inspector, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety, or equivalent .
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building codes, and commercial construction practices .
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills , with experience in preparing clear inspection reports.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure project success.
