Title: Principal, Bishop Luers High School
Reports To: Bishop of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and Superintendent of Catholic Schools
Position Summary: The Principal of Bishop Luers High School serves as the chief administrator, responsible for the comprehensive leadership and management of the school. This role is pivotal in fostering a vibrant Catholic educational environment that prioritizes spiritual development, academic excellence, and operational vitality. The Principal is entrusted with implementing the directives and decisions of the Bishop of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, therefore it is imperative that a candidate be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church. The Principal also collaborates with the Bishop Luers High Advisory School Board on school policy alignment with the diocese and strategic plan development and implementation.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Catholic Identity and Formation:
Serve as the spiritual leader of the school, embodying and promoting Catholic values.
Cultivate a strong faith community through active engagement with students, faculty, and staff.
Ensure that all aspects of school life reflect and reinforce the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Guarantee that all teaching and actions by teachers are supportive of the Catholic Faith.
2. Academic Excellence:
Implement, monitor, and assess the Diocesan curriculum to ensure high standards of academic achievement.
Establish and maintain effective instructional programs that meet the diverse needs of students.
Recruit, develop, and retain highly qualified faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning.
Supervise, evaluate, and provide professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
3. Operational Vitality:
Develop and manage the school's annual budget, ensuring responsible fiscal stewardship.
Oversee the maintenance and development of the school's physical facilities and grounds.
Lead strategic planning initiatives to advance the school's mission and vision.
Direct enrollment management and development efforts to ensure the school's long-term sustainability.
Act as the primary spokesperson for the school, representing its interests to the wider community.
Establish and enforce student conduct and discipline policies that promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
Hire, assign, supervise, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate employees in accordance with Diocesan policy.
Collaborate with appropriate staff to accomplish annual goals.
Work closely with the Principal-appointed school board, which serves in an advisory capacity.
Minimum Qualifications:
**A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church**
At least 3 years as a successful teacher.
Hold or be eligible to obtain an Indiana Administrator's License.
Preferred 3 years as a successful administrator.
Demonstrated experience in educational leadership and administration
Strong commitment to Catholic education and the mission of Bishop Luers High School.
