CNC Programmer – Mills & Lathes (GibbsCAM / NX CAM)\n

Houston, TX | Full-Time | Day Shift

General Plastics & Composites, LP is hiring an experienced CNC Programmer to join our Engineering team in Orem, Utah . This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and standardizing CNC programs to support safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations.

This position is ideal for a hands-on CNC Programmer who enjoys working closely with the shop floor, improving processes, and programming complex parts for CNC mills and lathes .

What You’ll Do\n

As a CNC Programmer, you will:

• Create and modify 3D models from engineering drawings
\n
• Read and interpret engineering prints, blueprints, and GD&T
\n
• Develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs using GibbsCAM and NX CAM
\n
• Generate and edit G-code for CNC mills and CNC lathes
\n
• Design machining processes including tooling selection, fixturing, and machining strategies
\n
• Standardize machining practices to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost
\n
• Support shop floor operations by:\n
  \n
  • Monitoring first articles
  \n
  • Assisting with setups and tooling
  \n
  • Troubleshooting machining and programming issues
  \n
  \n
\n
• Research and implement new machining methods, tooling, and process improvements
\n
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce setup time and non-conformances
\n
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
\n
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company policies
\n

Required Skills & Technical ExperienceCNC Programming & CAM\n

\n
• Strong experience with GibbsCAM and NX CAM
\n
• Expert-level G-code and M-code knowledge
\n
• Ability to adjust speeds, feeds, tooling, and machining strategies
\n
• CNC program creation, editing, and optimization
\n

Machines & Controls\n

\n
• CNC mills and CNC lathes
\n
• Live-tooling lathes
\n
• 4-axis CNC mills
\n
• Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls
\n

Engineering & Quality\n

\n
• Strong understanding of GD&T
\n
• Ability to interpret engineering prints and technical specifications
\n
• Experience supporting first-article inspections and production readiness
\n

Qualifications\n

\n
• 5+ years of CNC programming or related manufacturing experience
\n
• Advanced CAD/CAM skills including model manipulation and machine template generation
\n
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
\n
• Ability to collaborate effectively with shop floor teams
\n
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing environments preferred
\n
• High attention to detail and process consistency
\n
