Role Overview:

This internship will support major initiatives across our organization, specifically focusing on the integration and optimization of core business systems such as Field Service Management (FSM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Human Capital Management (HCM), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms. The goal is to facilitate a smooth transition for operational units onto standardized platforms, enhancing efficiency, reducing business disruption, and driving long-term value. This transformation will unfold over multiple phases within the next two to three years and may involve organizational restructuring and the development of shared services.

Position Description:

The Data Engineer Intern will contribute to our data initiatives, primarily supporting the ExCAL Data Workstream. You will play a key role in building reliable, high-quality data solutions that drive insights and decision-making across various platforms. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners to meet project goals and deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shape datasets according to reporting and analytics requirements.
• Collaborate with team members to develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and ETL workflows.
• Prepare and integrate structured and unstructured data for analysis and storage.
• Help build and maintain cloud-based or on-premises data infrastructure.
• Assist in the design of data models and schema creation to support robust analytics.
• Improve database performance and optimize query efficiency.
• Troubleshoot data quality and pipeline issues, implementing solutions as needed.
• Support data governance efforts, including cataloging and compliance activities.
• Document technical workflows and processes to aid team knowledge sharing.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a similar field.
• Strong foundation in programming (e.g., Python, Java, or Scala).
• Working knowledge of SQL and database principles.
• Exposure to big data ecosystems (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Hive) is a plus.
• Basic familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with Git or similar version control systems is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a high attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits:
