Legal Counsel

The company is a fastgrowing U.S. local news content platform seeking a Legal Counsel to support commercial, product, compliance, and crossfunctional legal matters. The role partners closely with senior leadership, product, engineering, and business teams to enable rapid innovation while managing legal risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including revenueshare, advertising, licensing, and platformrelated contracts.
• Provide guidance across product compliance, data privacy/security, employment, intellectual property, and litigation.
• Support product development by advising on legal requirements while enabling businessdriven, pragmatic execution.
• Lead legal review for product launches, including drafting and updating privacy policies and terms of use.
• Collaborate crossfunctionally to identify risks, support growth initiatives, and ensure legal alignment across departments.
• Contribute to developing internal legal best practices and strengthening the legal function for rapid scaling.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice in California (or eligible for inhouse practice).
• 3+ years of relevant legal experience from a law firm and/or inhouse.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to partner across business, product, engineering, and leadership teams.
• Ability to manage multiple highpriority matters in a fastpaced environment.
• Able to work 4+ days/week onsite in California.
