The Sanford Luverne Surgery team position allows flexibility for busy days and to accommodate other staff vacation or LOA's. The RN role in peri-operative setting: helping with admitting, recovering (phase I & II), and circulating during surgical and GI cases.

An applicant for this position will perform a variety of duties in the peri-operative setting ranging from pre-op assessment/admission and teaching, circulating duties during procedures, and phase I and phase II recovery for patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures in GI, General, OB/GYN, Urology, and Ophthalmology surgeries. They must possess the skills and knowledge necessary to be proficient in all areas of assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation as well as a sense of responsibility and high degree of knowledge for maintaining sterile techniques and transmission-based precautions. This position also requires the ability to operate various operating room supplies/equipment, able to type and use the computers, and maintain strict confidentiality.

Candidates must be team orientated, have open communication, a positive attitude, available and ready to help each other and adaptable. Prior experience preferred but not required

Shift: 6:30am-3:00pm Monday-Friday; Scheduled work hours will vary dependent on needs

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates patient care, assessment, education, triage and various other nursing interventions
  • Collaborates with colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care
  • Empathetically cares for patients during all stages of preventive services, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up along the continuum of care
  • Demonstrates competency and uses comprehensive nursing expertise

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
