Summary:
This position will be an integral resource within the Accounting Team of Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants. The position will report to the Accounting Manager and is primarily responsible for performing monthly close process, maintaining General Ledger accounts, completing all assigned account reconciliations, creating and/or updating standard operating procedures for all tasks performed, ad hoc analyses and projects assigned from the Accounting Manager and CFO, assisting in the development and maintenance of our reporting and forecasting software (Adaptive), as well as assisting with Financial Reporting and providing back-up and cover to all areas within the accounting team. The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of qualification or have prior experience in the wine industry.
Responsibilities: ALL\tMain contributor to the monthly close and reporting process responsible for all close activities and reconciliations except for payroll.
\tAssist with special projects to improve operating efficiency of department
\tPrepare monthly sales rep commission statements
\tAssist with monthly management reporting on Financial Statements, as needed, providing schedules, etc.
\tPerform variance analysis to budget and prior periods to ensure transactions are captured appropriately
\tPrepare monthly operating expense reports for distribution to department heads including employee expense reporting
\tPrepare accounting schedules and respond to inquiries to assist with annual audits and reviews performed by external auditors
\tCross train in other finance and operations roles to act as coverage when needed
\tPrepare all tax and compliance reporting
\tAssist in maintaining reporting and forecasting software (Adaptive)
\tAd hoc projects and analysis assigned by CFO and/or Accounting Manager
\tGenerate and maintain standard operating procedures for tasks performed
\tGenerate and maintain supplier bank statements
\tWork with other departments to ensure data integrity in our systems
Requirements/Qualifications:
\tBA / BS in Accounting or Finance required
\tGeneral understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
\t3+ years of experience in general accounting required
\tIntermediate to advanced Excel Skills
\tExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
\tAbility to work independently with minimal supervision
\tAbility to multitask and respond quickly and accurately to demanding situations with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
\tStrong work ethic and positive attitude
\tAttention to detail and accuracy, with a high level of integrity
\tEffective communication skills in English, verbal and written, with employees and external parties at all levels
\tStrong team orientation and passion for working with cross functional departments
\tPassion and curiosity for continuous process improvement
\tExperience with reporting and forecasting software a plus
\tPublic accounting experience a plus
\tPrior experience with Apprise ERP a plus, but not required
\tInventory accounting/management experience a plus
