Senior Project Management, Steel Erection - Structural & Miscellaneous - Akron, OH

Gryphon Oakwood are currently working on a Senior Project Management role in structural and miscellaneous Steel Erection in the Akron area. You will be responsible for managing large heavy steel erection operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in Structural Steel and Shop Floor operations, including welding practices
• Strong focus on Safety and Quality standards
• Ability to interact with customers and effectively manage expectations through consistent communication
• Exceptional attention to detail with a proven ability to drive projects according to schedule
• High-level problem-solving skills and a commitment to process improvement
• Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Full-Time Position; willingness to work overtime as needed
• Strong organisational skills required for handling multiple projects simultaneously
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with Structural Steel components such as platforms, stairways, etc.

Responsibilities

• Work for a national leader specialising in high-quality welding, fabrication, and maintenance solutions across diverse industries
• Manage assigned projects from initiation through completion, including planning manufacturing activities, overseeing material requirements, and maintaining customer relations
• Regularly communicate with customers to gather project information, including conducting site visits and taking necessary measurements
• Coordinate with vendors to source materials, confirm pricing, and determine lead times
• Collaborate with the shop floor team, field teams, and external vendors to establish project timelines and requirements
• Launch projects by creating production routers and releasing them to the shop floor
• Provide ongoing status updates and project reports to internal and external stakeholders
• Understand and apply customer and project specifications throughout the project lifecycle
• Operate independently or collaboratively, creating actionable plans, and solving welding and fabrication challenges as they arise.
