Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced engineer to join our growing Solid Waste Practice. The Solid Waste Engineer will contribute to the design and permitting of solid waste facilities, assist with client management, oversee project profitability, and facilitate communication with clients and regulatory agencies. Experience in engineering disciplines outside of solid waste projects is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct landfill design and analysis, including developing plans, drawings, and project submittals. Present work to clients or regulators as needed.
  • Support the solid waste practice through client development, project execution, and staff growth.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare technical proposals, and contribute to business development with existing clients.
  • Assist in developing new business with private and public solid waste clients.
  • Provide experience and oversight for landfill construction quality assurance (CQA) projects.
  • Manage and assist with the design and permitting of landfill components, including landfill gas systems, leachate collection systems, landfill expansion, and final cover design.
  • Act as a technical resource for solid waste engineering projects.
  • Perform other engineering assignments, such as water resources projects and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, as needed.

Qualifications Education

  • Required : B.S. in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical) or a related discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in solid waste consulting.
  • Familiarity with regulatory agencies and experience with private and public solid waste clients.
  • Experience in the design and permitting of landfill and solid waste projects.
  • Strong engineering skills with excellent communication, writing, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Preferred : Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Technical Expertise
  • Design and permitting of landfill and solid waste components.
  • Landfill gas system design, installation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Landfill construction quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Certificates/Licenses

  • Required : Valid driver's license.
